山中俊治と研究室のメンバーは2008年から義足のデザインに取り組み、数々の成果を上げている。「CR-1」はトップアスリートの使用を想定したもので、T64クラス100メートルアジア記録保持者でもあるパラ・アスリートの高桑早生選手が競技で用いている義足を原型とした。義足のソケットは、高度な造形が可能で通常のカーボンよりも軽いドライカーボン製。強度が必要な部分を網目状に補強して軽量性と剛性を両立している。その造形は、身体との一体感や板バネへ向かう力の流れも意識した。

Shunji Yamanaka and his lab have been designing prosthetic legs since 2008 and have achieved many successes. The CR-1 is intended for leading athletes, and its design is based on the prosthetic leg used by para-athlete Saki Takakuwa, who holds the Asia record for the 100m T64 class. The socket of the prosthetic leg is made of dry carbon, which is lighter than standard CFRP and capable of advanced shaping. The sections that need to be strengthened are reinforced with a mesh-like structure to achieve both lightness and rigidity. The leg was also designed to create a sense of unity with the body and to allow the force to flow towards the carbon blade.
