このパナソニックのロボット掃除機のプロトタイプは、2000年に人間の未来の仲間として設計制作された（当時の日本国内向けブランド「National」を想定）。今では家庭用の一般的な家電となっているロボットクリーナーであるが、当時はまだ市場にはほとんど存在しなかった。その意味でこのプロトタイプは、本格的なホームオートメーション革命を先取りしたものだったと言える。これが制作された時点の機能を今日と比較すると完全に満足のいくものではなかったが、それでも人々の毎日の家事労働をサポートするパートナーとしてデザインされている。スタイリング機能に率直でシンプル、過度にならない適切な期待を抱かせることで人間と機械の信頼関係を育む役割が与えられた。部屋のコーナーを巧みに掃除するために提案された、三角形を基調としたこのプロトタイプのスタイルは、今日のパナソニックのロボット掃除機「Rulo」シリーズにも継承されている。

Panasonic (‘National’ in Japan) Robotic Cleaner was designed and prototyped in 2000 as a visionary companion for humans. At that time, robotic cleaners were rarely available on the market, but today, they have become commonplace household appliances. This prototype was ahead of its time, foreshadowing the revolution in home automation. While its functionality was not yet entirely satisfactory at the time, the robotic cleaner served as an encouraging partner, supporting people in their continuous and sometimes challenging pursuit of order. The design remained simple and functional, managing expectations while nurturing trust in the human-machine relationship. The style of this prototype, characterized by a triangular motif, was originally proposed for skillfully cleaning room corners and has been inherited by today's Panasonic "Rulo" series of robotic vacuum cleaners.
