ハルキゲニア01は未来の乗用車のためのコンセプトスタディである。一つのエンジンに4つの車輪という従来の乗用車の構造とは全く異なる新しい概念の8輪乗用車の1/5スケールのプロトタイプである。このロボットビークルにおいては、各車輪とそれを支える脚構造の独立制御により、車両の向きを保ったままあらゆる方向に移動し、その場で回転する、歩く、階段を登るなど、これまでにない多彩な移動モードを実現している。2003年に様々な展示会においてデモが行われ、新聞、テレビなどさまざまな媒体でで紹介されて大きな反響を呼んだプロジェクトである。

Hallucigenia 01 is a conceptual study for the future of automotive transportation. The eight-wheeled vehicle was designed and prototyped in 1/5 scale in collaboration with Creative Box Inc. and fuRo since 2002 to revolutionize the standard four-wheel one-motor configuration of automobiles. The robotic vehicle features independent control of each wheel and its corresponding suspension, enabling unconventional maneuvers such as diagonal translation, rotation, and walking.
Subsequently, the vehicle has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and TV programs.
