この DVD プレーヤー/レコーダーのプロトタイプは、ますます増大する放熱の問題を解決すべく2003年に提案されたものだった。AV機器は通常、密閉されたラックシステムに収納されるため、熱気が逃げにくい。これに対して、この DVD プレーヤー/レコーダーのメインボディは熱伝導率の高いアルミの押出成形によって作られ、前後に大きな開口部を設けた、高級感と機能性を両立させた冷却構造が提案されている。スムーズな空気の流れを設計することにより、静かな低出力のファンによる冷却を可能にし、音楽を楽しむのに最適な低騒音環境を提供できることを意図したものである。デバイスの状態は、車のフロントグリルのようなアルミメッシュを通して全面に投影される柔らかい光によって表示される。

This DVD Player/Recorder was a designer’s solution to the ever-increasing problem of heat management in modern information devices. The body of the device was designed to be manufactured using aluminum extrusion, which addresses the challenge effectively. Audio-visual appliances are often stored in a tightly packed rack system out of which heated air cannot easily escape. Unlike conventional designs with a closed front panel, this DVD Player/Recorder has an air intake in the front face and an outlet in the back. This enables air to flow effortlessly, only requiring a relatively silent cooling fan that is also pleasant for enjoying music. The device operation is communicated via internal light that is visible through the automobile front grill-like aluminum mesh. This DVD Player/Recorder was designed and prototyped in 2003.
