"Asterisk" is a series of wristwatches designed for young executives in the late 1980s, during Japan's economic peak. The product concept for this watch was conceived by Naoki Sakai and his Water Studio. These luxury watches are primarily made of stainless steel and express their value not through precious metals and gemstones like traditional watches but through the quality of craftsmanship, which combines industrial processes and meticulous handwork, including manual polishing for the finest surface finish. The watches' reliable and functional appearance draws inspiration from the speedometers found in high-performance motorcycles and sports cars favored by the target customer base. Despite Japan's economic boom fading into history, the "Asterisks" have remained a classic within Seiko's line of fine watches.
